Fruit Trees & Bushes
HOW TO USE: Westland Composted Bark is easily applied by hand.
IMPROVING SOIL: Spread a thick layer 3-4cm deep over the soil surface and, using a fork, work into the top 15-20cm of soil surface. It will provide a rich source of organic nutrients when dug into soil. These nutrients are slowly released into soil, improving fertility and adding humus to soil.
IMPROVING SOIL STRUCTURE: Use as per instructions above. When dug into clay (heavy) soil, it will create a much more open structure and improve drainage. When dug into sandy soil, it will improve soil structure facilitating moisture retention during warm weather.
MULCHING BEDS & BORDERS: Remove all weeds from the area and ensure it is moist and not frozen. Spread a thick layer 3-4cm deep over the soil surface. It is ideal for mulching around trees and shrubs as well as your beds, borders and vegetable plots. It helps to feed your plants, suppress weed growth, protect tender roots from frost damage and reduce moisture loss during warm, dry conditions.
HANDY GARDENING TIPS: Store in a dry frost free place away from weed killers and other garden chemicals. Reseal bag after use.
HEALTH & SAFETY ADVICE: Use in a well ventilated place and avoid breathing in dust. Always wear glovers when gardening and then wash hands after use
